Well Formed Outcomes Using NLP

To improve or change your life in any way it is vital to have well formed outcomes in your life.  Well formed outcomes are more than just having goals in your life; they go beyond just setting goals and step into the realms of desired outcome development.  In other words, outcomes are exactly that, knowing what the outcome will be when you reach that goal.  Knowing how it will feel, how it will look and possibly how it will smell or taste.  You can imagine those feelings and how you will feel in general once you reach that outcome.By imagining the feelings of reaching your outcome you will be more motivated to work toward reaching that result. Neuro Linguistic Programming teaches you the techniques to know your outcome and to achieve it without becoming disheartened or giving up along the way.  NLP will give you the specifics of developing your goals enabling you to have a clear understanding of what you need to do.Your outcome should have these characteristics to be achievable:·         State your outcome in positive terms and never in negative terms. If your outcome is to give up smoking for example, then it is best to state the outcome as “I will be a non-smoker” rather than as “I want to give up smoking”.  The mind does not process negatives well and phrases like ‘give up’ or ‘lose’ are processed as the goal.  So by saying you want to give up, your mind is giving up.  Another example is if you want to lose weight, rather than saying you want to lose weight, say that you want to be thin and fit.  You mind isn’t processing the ‘lose’ phrase and is instead processing what you want to be.

·         You need to be able to measure your progress toward reaching your outcome with your senses.  So you need to be able to see or feel some progress.  If you can’t measure your progress then you won’t know if you are on the right track to reaching your goal.

·         Your outcome needs to be something that you have control over achieving.  You cannot rely on someone else to be able to reach your outcome. You cannot control other people, so it is important that it is something that you can control completely.

·         Detail the context of your outcome as in when, where, how and with who do you want this outcome.

·         Your outcome should be something that will not affect either yourself or anyone else in a negative or hurtful way.  Your outcome should be something positive. There are two types of people – one type that always achieve their goals and one type that never achieve their goals.  The difference between these two types of people is that people who are happy measure their progress by comparing where they now are against where they started from and see that they are making progress and are happy with that. If they are not making progress they will change their approach and try something else until they do make progress.  The other type are the people who are stress and negative who measure their progress by comparing where they are against where they want to be when they reach their goal and feel that since they aren’t there yet they aren’t getting anywhere, and will likely give up.So it is very crucial when creating well formed outcomes in your life to be happy, measure your progress with where you started from and enjoy your progress.  Know that you are getting closer to your dream and that you will get their.  Believe in yourself and in the NLP techniques and you will achieve all your dreams.
