Managing Your Fears with Neuro Linguistic Programming

January 5, 2008 at 9:57 am (Uncategorized) ()

Fears! They can be scary.  They can take over your life and for some people they actually do.  For some people they become irrationally fearful of situations that most people wouldn’t give a second thought to.  Even if you don’t have irrational fears, just normal every day fears can be a real pain.So imagine how good it would be if there was a simple way to get rid of your fears quickly and painlessly.  How cool would that be?Fear is a learned behaviour, usually learned in early childhood and also in later life under stressful conditions.Traditional approaches will usually have you trying to work out where or when your fear first originated.  They will have you thinking back to your childhood trying to recall times when you first became aware of your fear and what may have caused it.Many people are reluctant to participate in this approach as they are unwilling to relive their unpleasant memories.  This approach can be very unpleasant and can usually take a long time to achieve results within a person.Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) doesn’t use that sort of approach to rid you of your fears. The NLP approach is much easier, more pleasant and gives you fairly quick results.  NLP doesn’t focus on what made you fearful, it teaches you how to undo those learned behaviours and change your responses to something more useful. So let’s go through a technique that can rid you of your fears.1.      Think of a situation where you feel fear2.      Disassociate – see yourself in the situation as if you were watching a movie with you in it3.      Imagine running the memory from the END of the fearful situation, BACKWARDS to the START.  Do this really fast in less than one second.4.      Think of something that makes you feel the opposite of fear, such as your favourite, feel good music.5.      Now hear the music, nice and loud, inside your mind whilst looking at yourself going through the situation from START to END6.      Break state (think of something completely different to stop thinking what you were thinking – such as saying your phone number backwards).  Now think of the situation you chose in step one and notice how your fearful feelings have diminished. You have just retrained your mind to think of something different when it faces that situation.  Facing that fear in future should be much easier for you and it only took a few minutes to retrain your mind. You can repeat this technique for any fearful situation and rid yourself of all your fears.  This is just one of many techniques that you can learn using NLP.

How Much Does How You Think Affect Your Life? NLP

December 29, 2007 at 11:19 am (Uncategorized)

It is quite amazing to realise just how much your thoughts can affect every aspect of your life. The way that you think can drastically affect your life for either bad or good.

Unfortunately some people have developed a bad habit of thinking negatively and the more that they do it, the more that they do it.  In other words – what you focus on expands.  If you focus on negative things then negative things tend to keep on happening in your life.

Likewise, if you focus on positive things then positive things will tend to keep happening to you.  It is like you draw certain things into your life by how you think.

A compulsive negative thinker will most often look at the bad side of every situation and never see any good in a situation.  However, the same situation can be viewed completely differently by a positive thinker and therefore can result in a completely different, and more positive, outcome.

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming can help you to change the way that you think.  NLP can help a compulsive negative thinker to retrain their mind to start thinking more positively and to learn to see the positives in situations.

By changing the way that you think using Neuro Linguistic Programming you can make a huge difference to your life and become a much happier person – also making those around you much happier too.

If you have tried to improve your life and the way you think but just never seem to see any improvements, then NLP is definately worth having a go.  The techniqes used are very quick and have great success rates.  There is a product called The NLP Toolbox that you can use to teach yourself the NLP techniques and it also offers a 100% money back guarantee if you are not happy with the results.

Give NLP a go today and start enjoying your life in a more positive way

Raising Your Self Esteem With NLP – Part 2

December 11, 2007 at 12:12 pm (Uncategorized)

This is part two of our raising self esteem with NLP article and we are going to introduce you to a powerful Neuro Linguistic Programming technique known as ‘The Swish’.This technique is very good to help reprogram your thought processes to move away from the unwanted behaviour – such as “I am a hopeless person” attitude – toward a much healthier thinking process – such as “I am a good person” or “I am good at what I do” attitude. The Swish is one of the quickest techniques that you can use to re-direct your habitual thinking patterns.Let’s run through an example of how to use this powerful technique.Think of a specific situation where you tend to feel very low self esteem, such as talking in public or even talking to members of the opposite sex.Make yourself aware of the first picture that you see through your own eyes just before you feel the bad, insecure feelings.  This is called the ‘cue image’.Put that cue image aside for the moment and now think of something that made you feel really good.  It doesn’t need to be anything major just something that makes you feel better than that insecure, low self esteem feeling. If you are having trouble thinking of something then try thinking of a pet or favourite TV show, your favourite music or movie or person even. Now that you have those ‘better’ feelings try to imagine what that good feeling would look like. You can imagine a picture scene or even just a color.Try to imagine bringing that image or color closer to you, making it bigger and brighter and you will notice that it makes you feel even better. Now the step to re-program your mind is about to begin.  Picture that cue image again.  The one that you started with that gave you the insecure feelings.  Bring it closer to you, make it bigger and brighter. Now in the middle of the image place a small, postage stamp sized image of the ‘good feeling’ image. Here comes the exciting bit – the swish…..Imaging that you are zooming the insecure cue image off into the distance, it is gradually getting smaller and dimmer the further it gets away from you AND at the same time bring the good feeling image closer to you, making it bigger and brighter. Now blank the screen.  Try to picture a big black or white blank board.Repeat the ‘swishing’ process several times until you can imagine doing it in less than half a second. The final step is to break your current state.  Think of something completely different like what you will eat for dinner tonight.  Take your mind completely away from the swish exercise thoughts. Now think of the original cue image again and notice how your feelings have changed.Low self esteem and its associated behaviour have a tendency
to re-enforce themselves resulting in a person suffering with feelings
of low energy. To break out of these habitual patterns and
raise self esteem it is necessary to do something different. Anything
else to break the patterns!
The NLP Swish technique is a very effective tool for breaking out of
destructive patterns along with NLP’s many other useful change
methods.  This example is a simplified example and you can find step by step instruction on how to do the swish technique in the NLP toolbox.

Raising Your Self Esteem With NLP – Part 1

December 11, 2007 at 12:10 pm (Uncategorized)

Have you ever had one of those days that you just feel really bad about yourself?  I’m sure everybody has some bad days like this throughout their lives, even the most successful and exceptional people.  It is just part of life, although some people seem to have many more days feeling like this than others do.This sort of person that will often experience negative feelings like guilt, shame, embarrassment or self hate are known as having ‘low self esteem’.  These people will often make themselves worse by constantly criticizing themselves with self talk like ‘why do I always feel like this’ or ‘why me’.  These critical comments will make the person feel even worse and they tend to get caught in a loop of feeling bad and then reinforcing those feelings and making themselves feel even worse. If you are circling in a negative loop like this you will no doubt find yourself lacking in energy which makes it even harder to snap out of it and raise your self esteem.  It is vital that you take control of your mind and know how your mind works to be able to break the cycle and improve your self esteem.Thought patterns are directionalised.  In other words, if you are having continuous thoughts of ‘I am hopeless and I will never achieve anything’ then that is what your mind feels and it becomes your self-fulfilling prophecy.   You are setting your brain up to go in that direction. It is listening to your thoughts and is carrying them out, so when you think repeatedly negative thoughts your brain will follow those thoughts and your reality will be negative just as your thoughts are.So to improve your life and your self esteem you need to adopt a whole new way of thinking that will lead you in an empowering direction.  A technique for this is known as disassociation and its effects are quite fast.Try to think of a situation where you would like to have higher self esteem and like you are having feelings about the feelings and then this will free up your inner resources so that you are able to gain new self esteeming perspectives. Now while you are watching that movie with you in it as yourself “If I were to learn something valuable about this situation what would it be?”  You can also ask yourself “If I pretend there is a positive intention behind my feelings or behaviour what would that be?”  Try not to think too hard about your answer if you can’t think of an answer straight away just have a guess.  The main point of the exercise is to lead your mind in a more positive direction.  Do you notice any more positive feelings? You can use this exercise and run through some other situations where you wished you had used more positive self esteem and begin to become aware of just how much you can raise your self esteem through a little bit of effort.Part two of this raising self esteem article will discuss a very powerful NLP technique that is a fast and very effective method of creating change in your life.

Well Formed Outcomes Using NLP

December 11, 2007 at 11:06 am (Uncategorized) (, )

To improve or change your life in any way it is vital to have well formed outcomes in your life.  Well formed outcomes are more than just having goals in your life; they go beyond just setting goals and step into the realms of desired outcome development.  In other words, outcomes are exactly that, knowing what the outcome will be when you reach that goal.  Knowing how it will feel, how it will look and possibly how it will smell or taste.  You can imagine those feelings and how you will feel in general once you reach that outcome.By imagining the feelings of reaching your outcome you will be more motivated to work toward reaching that result. Neuro Linguistic Programming teaches you the techniques to know your outcome and to achieve it without becoming disheartened or giving up along the way.  NLP will give you the specifics of developing your goals enabling you to have a clear understanding of what you need to do.Your outcome should have these characteristics to be achievable:·         State your outcome in positive terms and never in negative terms. If your outcome is to give up smoking for example, then it is best to state the outcome as “I will be a non-smoker” rather than as “I want to give up smoking”.  The mind does not process negatives well and phrases like ‘give up’ or ‘lose’ are processed as the goal.  So by saying you want to give up, your mind is giving up.  Another example is if you want to lose weight, rather than saying you want to lose weight, say that you want to be thin and fit.  You mind isn’t processing the ‘lose’ phrase and is instead processing what you want to be.

·         You need to be able to measure your progress toward reaching your outcome with your senses.  So you need to be able to see or feel some progress.  If you can’t measure your progress then you won’t know if you are on the right track to reaching your goal.

·         Your outcome needs to be something that you have control over achieving.  You cannot rely on someone else to be able to reach your outcome. You cannot control other people, so it is important that it is something that you can control completely.

·         Detail the context of your outcome as in when, where, how and with who do you want this outcome.

·         Your outcome should be something that will not affect either yourself or anyone else in a negative or hurtful way.  Your outcome should be something positive. There are two types of people – one type that always achieve their goals and one type that never achieve their goals.  The difference between these two types of people is that people who are happy measure their progress by comparing where they now are against where they started from and see that they are making progress and are happy with that. If they are not making progress they will change their approach and try something else until they do make progress.  The other type are the people who are stress and negative who measure their progress by comparing where they are against where they want to be when they reach their goal and feel that since they aren’t there yet they aren’t getting anywhere, and will likely give up.So it is very crucial when creating well formed outcomes in your life to be happy, measure your progress with where you started from and enjoy your progress.  Know that you are getting closer to your dream and that you will get their.  Believe in yourself and in the NLP techniques and you will achieve all your dreams.

NLP – It’s All About The Way We Think

December 11, 2007 at 11:04 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

I had a terrible day today; everything seemed to go wrong right from the start.  Every decision I made today seemed to be the wrong decision and had negative results.  Why do I seem to have days like this all the time lately? Do you ever feel like that?  Don’t you hate it when you see people that are always happy and always seem to make the right decision – every single time? Did you know that it’s all about the way that we think?  The way we think can affect the outcome of our entire day and in fact our entire lives.   If a person has had many bad experiences in their lives then these past experiences will effect all the decisions that they make on a daily basis.  Even though they will not connect their current decisions with their past experiences, it is the way that the mind works.  Each and every decision that a person makes is made based on their past experiences. If you’ve had a negative past then you will continue to make negative decisions in the future and will continue down that negative pathway. If you are one of these ‘negative’ people you probably hate reading this and think there is no hope for you and that your life will always be negative and your days will always be terrible. Not so though, I have good news for you.  Neuro Linguistic Programming is a set of techniques that thousands of people worldwide are using to improve their lives.  They are improving both their personal and their business lives and many of these people are becoming very successful and very happy. These techniques are quite simple once learned and can be used by anyone.  Their effects are reasonably fast and you can change your life around in a short period of time.   Obviously, you can’t change your past, what you have experienced in the past will always be there in your mind as part of your memories.  What we can change however is the way that your mind perceives those memories. When your mind considers these memories to be bad and negative then it has these feelings when it is considering current decisions, which can often result with negative decisions and in fact usually does.  But if you can change your minds perception so that it considers these memories to be positive then it will begin to have positive feelings when it is considering current decisions resulting in positive outcomes. Neuro Linguistic Programming teaches you the techniques and skills needed to be able to change the way that your mind perceives particular memories and can change your way of thinking into much more positive thoughts and therefore give you a much more positive outlook on life.  You will begin to make good, positive decisions and can become very, very successful in your personal or business life in just a short time.

NLP – Decisions and Time Line Therapy

December 11, 2007 at 11:00 am (Uncategorized)

I don’t know about you but I’m usually quite hopeless at making decisions and when I finally make one it often turns out to be the wrong one.  It drives me crazy!  I see people that make decisions so easily and they always seem to make the right one every time and it drives me mad that I can’t do that too.  Can Neuro Linguistic Programming help me to be able to make decisions better and easier?  Let’s find out…. Decisions that we make on a daily basis are made according to our past experiences.  This is something that happens automatically or subconsciously without us even realizing it, but all decisions are made somewhat based on our past. So these people that seem to make the right decision every time and do so very easily have probably had a very positive life with positive experiences.  Then the decisions that they make are based on a positive life and therefore a positive attitude and therefore will usually be the right decision. These are the people that seem to have it all, the happy life that we all desire. So why can’t I have that life? Well, actually I do – now.  I never used to but with the help of Neuro Linguistic Programming I now make decisions much easier and I now make the right ones, where as in the past I was forever making the wrong decisions. Decisions can affect our entire life so if we make the wrong decision it can have some seriously bad consequences.  Decisions can create values, attitudes and life styles so if we base our decisions on a negative past then these things will also be negative. What is retained and what is deleted in our past memories can have a major effect on our current lives.  By being implanted in our memories, our past can affect every decision that we make today.   Neuro Linguistic Programming uses a Time Line Therapy that can change your minds thoughts about the past to more positive thoughts.  Although you cannot change anything that you have experienced in the past, it is possible to get your mind to think more positively about your past experiences. This is done through using a Time Line.  Psychologists have agreed for years that our past experiences determine who we are today and how we act.  Our memories are stored in our minds and as time goes on they have more and more influence on our lives. Our Time Line is like a memory coding of our brain – how people encode and store their memories. Can you remember what you had for dinner last night?  Now, can you imagine in your mind what you might have for dinner tomorrow night?  Remembering and imagining are quite similar in the way they are processed by our brain, so how does the brain tell the difference between a past memory and a future dream?   With the discovery of the time line it has become possible to change how the brain will view a persons memory and by doing so can change the way that you think and the way that you process information for making decisions.  By using the Time Line we can gain access to our decisions and memories of the past and change the way we feel about them. Our behaviors are guided by our decisions that we’ve made in the past so by being able to change the way we feel about these decisions can change our current and future behaviors for the better. Time Line therapy does work and it has changed many people’s lives dramatically for the better. So if you want to become one of those people who always make the right decision, then start by deciding to give the Neuro Linguistic Programming Time Line Therapy a go.

Neuro Linguistic Programming Can Help You Succeed

December 10, 2007 at 11:46 am (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is techniques that are becoming a more and more popular choice for helping people to change their lives.  It can help you become a happier, confident and successful person, in both your personal and business life. Everyone possesses the resources needed to become successful; it’s just that not everyone knows how to use those resources effectively. NLP will teach you how to find what exactly it is that you want in life and how to use the resources within you to achieve it. There is no lying on a couch talking to a counsellor with NLP; the teaching sessions are brief and more often than not very successful.  You can learn how to relieve depression, stress, anxiety and even phobias.  There are many people that have used these techniques to eliminate their phobias permanently. NLP can teach you how to become more successful in business as well as in your personal life.  I a person can do something and excel at it then there is no reason why you can’t be just as good at that particular thing.  All you need are the tools, techniques and skills to learn how to be just as good as anyone else in whatever you choose. NLP is not based on theory but is based on much study of these techniques and behaviours and by testing the techniques and seeing them prove successful over and over again. The techniques used are not hard to learn but are rather quite easy and you will see the results very quickly.  The techniques once learned can be used anywhere, anytime and you can perform the techniques in the comfort of your own home, rather than have recurring visits to a counsellor. NLP is an amazing way to improve the success in your life so if there is any area of your life that you want to improve then I highly recommend giving it a go and start your new successful life today.  Learn how to use those resources within you and become a better, happier, more successful person.
